SSDs and flash memory store data in chips, not magnetically. Degaussing has no effect on them; the chips themselves must be destroyed. The SSD-1E turns the PD-5E into a solid-state destroyer: you place the insert in the destruction chamber, put the media in, and the press drives 90 spikes through the memory chips.
The chamber takes one standard SSD, one phone or one SSHD controller board at a time. Smaller items such as USB sticks go in the supplied transport sleeves. Remove batteries from phones and mounting frames or metal casings from enterprise SSDs first.
The SSD-1E perforates the chips; it does not reduce them to a fixed particle size. If your standard requires a specific particle size for solid-state media, a shredder is the better choice. Garner products are not on the NSA/CSS list for solid-state devices.
