Government and defence

Government bodies and defence organisations handle information where the method of destruction is often prescribed, sometimes down to the make and model of the machine.

What is asked

Dutch central government works with the Baseline Informatiebeveiliging Overheid (BIO) and, for classified information, with the VIR-BI. Projects with the United States or NATO partners can bring in other requirements, such as NSA/CSS Policy Manual 9-12, which requires equipment from the NSA/CSS Evaluated Products List.

For classified hard drives, the NSA route is two steps: erase with a listed degausser, then physically deform. Every step is recorded: which medium, which machine, when, by whom and with what result.

Machines that fit

The TS-1XTE and the PD-5E are both on the NSA/CSS EPL (October 2026) and together cover the degauss-then-deform route. IRONCLAD adds a photo, the field strength or crush depth and a certificate for every item. Where media may not leave a site, a DDM mobility package brings the equipment to them.

Which rules apply to your organisation is determined by your security officer. We provide the machines, the documentation of their listing and the instruction for your staff.

Destroying government media?

We check the EPL status of every model and help you set up the documentation.
